José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation

Alle José Carreras Leukämie-Stiftungen verfolgen das gemeinsame Ziel, dass Leukämie bei jedem heilbar werden muss

In 1987, the Spanish tenor José Carreras came down with leukaemia. Thanks to the great work of the doctors and new findings in medicine, he conquered the disease. Thankfully, he founded a foundation in Barcelona in 1988 and over the years, more foundations in the USA, Switzerland and in Germany were raised. All José Carreras Leukaemia Foundations follow the same aim which was expressed by José Carreras: "Leukemia has to become curable. Always and for everyone." The José Carreras Gala has evolved into the most successful, long-time benefit emission in German TV. From 1995 to 2010, more than 90 million euros have been donated for the projects of the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation.

Leukaemia must become curable

José Carreras: "Leukaemia must become curable. Always and for everyone."

Every year, around 2,000 children and youths in Germany come down with cancer, around 700 of them with leukaemia. About 80 per cent of these children survive today - also because of the German José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. José Carreras campaigns for his aim: "Leukaemia must become curable. Always and for everyone."
