Every year, the Deutsche Nierenstiftung fulfils the heartfelt wishes of children and youths whose parents, brothers or sisters are suffering from a kidney complaint. About five million Germans live with a kdiney disease. According to estimations, ca. 70,000 people in Germany depend on dialysis. The disease of parents, brothers or sisters has an effect on all family members, especially on the children. Often, their needs and wishes fade into the background unintentionally as all care and attention is directed on the ill family member. Daily, these children and youths show patience and strength. With the campaign "Children's Wishes", the Deutsche Nierenstiftung praises their courage and fulfils a heartfelt wish for each of the children. In 2012, the foundation celebrated its 15^th anniversary by starting the campaign and it was awarded as one of the most successful campaigns in Germany by the Deutscher Fundraising Verband.
