The Felix Burda Foundation was founded in 2001 by Dr. Christa Maar and Prof. Dr. Hubert Burda and was named after their son who died on bowel cancer. In the consequence of this personal gear, the internationally acting foundation is devoted to the prevention of bowel cancer and today is the most known charitable institution in this area in Germany. It is known as a pioneer for the marketing communication for bowel cancer preventive care and early diagnosis. The numerous projects of the foundation include the national bowel cancer month March and the Felix Burda Award. The long-term aim of the foundation is to reduce the number of people dying on bowel cancer every year.
